Virtuous Woman Go Buy Your Field

Proverbs 31: 16-18 (AMP)

The word taught about the woman of virtue for someone who has no clue how to do anything other than wait on a man can be overwhelming. I always hear it preached in church through those women, matronly mothers, missionaries and the preacher man depict her as this suped supra woman…and I think no way can I do all that I am destined to failure; I assumed that I don’t have what it takes to take on this task.

For one thing; although I try I kinda feel sometimes that I just might get on my husband’s nerves. It is not the case that he gets on mine at this moment because now the spotlight glares directly on me; Kayla, the church lady, the lady elect, and the one who God has chosen to be wife, ma, and grandma to many. Now, the kids aren’t so pleased with me, because I have rules and guidelines for grown, not so grown and not grown yet that didn’t exist a while back…so as it goes I am not popular. However, I found out that I don’t have to be popular to be blessed; they will believe it later I suppose.

“She considers a [new] field before she buys or accepts it [expanding prudently and not courting neglect of her present duties by assuming other duties]; with her savings [of time and strength] she plants fruitful vines in her vineyard. She girds herself with strength [spiritual, mental, and physical fitness for her God-given task] and makes her arms strong and firm.18 She tastes and sees that her gain from work [with and for God] is good; her lamp goes not out, but it burns on continually through the night [of trouble, privation, or sorrow, warning away fear, doubt, and distrust]. ”

I had to choose the right thing over the wrong thing; regardless of what others might think or say my decision was to consider the word of God safe. I bought it hook line and sinker; every inch of me, and every part of my being says that it is a wise investment which will reap a return 100 fold.

I always thought of the field as something to be bought with money; thus, unreachable. That’s carnal thinking and doesn’t go along with God’s plan, because God’s plan doesn’t deal with money; he adds it, supplies our needs, and tells us don’t worry. So when I think of the field today…I think of new territory as something that which adds value; has value. Women today are doing all types of stuff that wasn’t so fifty years ago. Women are heads of company’s, partners, doctors, lawyers and other career choices; even I as a writer must say the field for me is wide open with promise for me.
